Community & Project Overview
The City of Fishers (City) in collaboration with the Fishers Armed Services Commission (FASC) seeks an artist, artist team, or creative company to design a monument or structure to honor the City of Fishers Country and Community Service Awardees. The Fishers Country and Community Service Award aims to recognize and honor individuals with Fishers ties who have went above and beyond in service to our country through military service, as well as our Fishers community. The monument is to memorialize the recipients of the award and to serve as a location for all to recognize and reflect on the outstanding service by individuals in our community.
Awardees will be nominated by the FASC and approved by the Mayor for inclusion on the monument/structure. Awardees will meet specific Country and Community Service Award Guidelines, but in general will be exceptional residents who have contributed meaningfully to our country while in military service, as well as at home within the community.
The City of Fishers is a suburb of Indianapolis, Indiana, located in Hamilton County and was named “#1 Place to Live” in the US by Money Magazine in 2017. Under the leadership of Mayor Scott Fadness, Fishers is known as a Smart, Vibrant, and Entrepreneurial city though its neighborhood development, dedication to supporting high-growth companies and innovative city processes. With an estimated population over 100,000 Fishers is one of the fastest growing communities in Indiana and has received national accolades for entrepreneurship, livability, and safety.
The purpose of the Fishers Armed Services Commission is to further the City in becoming a community in which military service is honored and recognized as a key component to our community’s vibrancy; incorporated and promoted in programming, policy decisions, and protocols to ensure recognition and appreciation towards military service is woven throughout our community and understood as a critical component to our sense of place. Those serving, those who have served, those desiring to serve, and our entire community for benefiting from military service, will be positively impacted by this new commission.
