Project Overview
The Fishers Arts & Culture Commission (FACC) seeks an artist, artist team, or creative company to
design a gateway feature located within a median on the west side of Exit 205, E 116th Street and
I-69 in Fishers, Indiana.
The gateway feature and art installation are intended to be representative of Fishers and the Nickel
Plate District, a statewide designated cultural district. Artists are encouraged to maximize the use
of color, texture, variations in height, and lighting. The installation must be durable and projected to
withstand weather conditions for up to ten (10) years.
The site for this artistic feature has a strict footprint determined by the City and the Indiana
Department of Transportation (INDOT). Artists must work with both entities to ensure that the
design meets all legal and design standards and best practices.
Scope of Service
Located within a median the concept should include the following:
Multiple vertical elements with a max hight of 15 feet within a 130’ x 17’ landscape median
Encouraged themes include (but are not limited to) nature, abstract, or identity design
A lighting feature, either by solar or underground electrical (currently not existing, cost will need to be incorporated in the budget)
Easily maintained / repaired and designed to withstand all weather conditions (including road salt)
The design may (but is not required to) incorporate text. Approved text for this project is limited to: “Fishers, Indiana”, “Established / EST. 1872”, and/or “Nickel Plate District”
Conduit exist approximately 18” deep with three surface access points within the median which may require a shallow foundation system, to work around the conduit / access points, and/or the lowering of the conduit.
