Pave over the existing railroad in Fishers to expand the Nickel Plate Rail Trail north to Noblesville and south to 38th Street. Nothing has been more consistent in spurring economic development than paved trails. The expanded Nickel Plate Rail Trail could be connected to the Monon at the fairgrounds, which would put Indianapolis on the map as a bicycle and pedestrian friendly city.
A paved trail could be used by Fishers residents for commuting and for recreation. It would enhance property values of those living nearby as opposed to a loud commuter train. It could be a central feature in making downtown Fishers a destination for dining, shopping and recreation.

Why is our rail crossing safety measures stuck in the early 1900's? I think the amount of gas/wear and tear our community blows through each day by stopping at the rail line all over town, that is used 2 weeks a year, is a shame and needs to end! Also believe we are far better off with the rail line being converted to a trail instead of light rail. Body Mass is a much bigger economic issue in this state than mass transit! Is there any area in the USA that has our geographic characteristics (no inherent growth boundary). Recreation is the major driver of density in central IN, of which a Nickle Plate trail will most certainly provide.

The past few weekends I've been biking along 116th and 126th street. While it's great that we have the bike "trails" next to the road there are a laundry list of safety issues when using them. I propose we fix the current trails and do a much better job when building out new trails in the future.
1. Curb cuts are numerous and very dangerous. Cars entering and exiting neighborhoods and shopping areas do not look for bikes. Signage can help. Decreasing the turn radius on curb cuts can help as well (that provides a shorter road to cross as well as a forcing auto traffic to slow).
2. Signage obstructs views for both bikes and vehicles. Both neighborhood and business signage is to blame in obstructing views. Signs should be set back from the road, be limited in height, or be eliminated from the center median and neighborhood entrances.
3. Curb cuts should be minimized. Where possible shopping areas should share an entrance exit and not allow each outbuilding to have their own.

What can Fishers do to get the fluoride removed from our city drinking water? You can easily Google "fluoride dangers in drinking water" to see that fluoride is killing us. Here are just a few examples: fluoride accumulates in the body; it causes reproductive problems, brain damage, lowered IQ, early puberty, arthritis; it affects thyroid function; and it damages bones. Contrary to popular (old school) belief, fluoride is dangerous. Many municipalities have removed it from their water already: http://fluoridealert.org/content/communities/

A turn light on 116th for drivers going westbound needs to be installed for those needing to turn left onto USA Parkway. Rush hour is a pain at this intersection for drivers needing to turn left, especially with Cumberland being closed. USA Parkway is now much busier and usually only two drivers can make the turn since traffic going east is constant. Anyone caught in line waiting for this will be waiting a good 10 or more minutes. Even a very short turn light would help tremendously.

The railroad has been removed but the stop signs remains (example: Just look at the 106th stop sign off of 69). We all know traffic in Fishers is getting worse and these pointless stop signs are not helping. Also, some people have begun to run them and that is causing confusion and chaos. Please improve the quality of life in Fishers by removing these pointless stop signs.
