With little to no competition in the Fishers area for broadband highs peed internet (an essential duopoly exists between Comcast and ATT) there is no market motivation for the city and residents of Fishers to get faster, more reliable, or better internet connections.
With the rise of the internet and a quick connection to the service becoming more and more of a basic requirement it makes sense that Fishers would create a public utility to install and maintain a fiber optic internet service for residents and businesses alike.
It could start with the new downtown developments and expand out from there. Fishers would lay the main trunks and neighborhoods or individual residents could pay for the "last mile" connection to their homes. At that point the Fishers Fiber Connection would be another Internet Service Provider that would provide competition as well as incentive for technology firms to locate in the area.
Other cities nationwide have done this.

I would love to see the area of grass next to the new Fresh Market developed. This could be grounds for incorporating the proposed Food and Beverage tax. Maybe you could survey the Fishers residents to see what residents think we need there. Most of the area looks very nice but it would just feel complete if that patch of grass was filled in with a nice looking building. I am not sure who owns that land but I would love to see something done there.

With at least 10 banks within walking distance of 116th and Allisonville, valuable property is being wasted by the abundance of banks in this town. And now we will add at least 2 more to Fishers Marketplace on 37. How about we add businesses that generate more revenue for the town and that will add to the quality of life of the residents, rather than just wasting land space with businesses that hardly anyone visits.

Fishers has done a great service to the community (and tax base) by setting up Launch Fishers. While this does well to foster startups that need office space there isn't anything currently around to foster startups that need retail space or product showcase areas.
It would be great to have an enclosed Market building that could provide this service. It could serve multiple purposes of providing indoor stalls for the Farmer's Market, a low rent Market style space for food or other vendors, and a space that companies participating in Launch Fishers (or other fledgling companies in the area) to promote their ideas, showcase their product, or simply allow the public to interact with them. It could be a mixture of permanent, semi-permanent, and seasonal vendor stalls. (And serve crowds at the outdoor stage).
Some case studies to look at would be Findlay Market in Cincinnati, the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, VA or the renovated City Market in downtown Indy.

It would be great to see Fishers build some Class A office space in the new downtown area. We spend a lot of time and money worrying about traffic on I69, expanding the highway, adding an exit on 106th, etc. At the same time we seem to turn a blind eye to the cause of that congestion. People want to live in Fishers (for the schools, pace of life, lack of crime, what have you), but their high paying jobs are located in Indianapolis.
Fishers needs Class A office space in the new downtown, walkable, core. We need to incentive companies to locate, move, or start a satellite in the Fishers downtown. This not only adds to the tax base but also would help decrease our dependency on I69 as a daily way of life.
