The current I-69 road projects are coming along nicely and will hopefully improve traffic flow.
I am seeing articles discussing adding a interchange at 106th St. I understand why the town of Fishers would want this to help traffic flow and alleviate 116th congestion. However, living in south Hamilton county, myself and many residents currently use this corridor to avoid traffic and congestion. Having this exit will only take away this alternate route. It will add congestion to our neighborhoods. I don't think it will have the desired effect.
That being said, why when 126th was widened, wasn't a I-69/126th interchange added? Wouldn't this help traffic flow as well? Exactly were it is needed. Plus, this would put I-69 access closer to those on the NE side of Fishers.
Please address the problem where it exists and not add more congestion to south Hamilton County. We have enough already!

The Fall Creek Rd bridge crossing over the Geist Reservoir inbetween Landings Dr and Geist Rd has always made me a little nervous because there are places where if your car were to slide off the road, you'd go right into the reservoir. I'm not talking about the bridge itself, which already has guardrails. I mean on either side of the bridge there are openings. There are some little bushes or something there blocking the openings, but they wouldn't stop a car. Especially in light of the recent tragedy where a teenage girl's SUV slid into the reservoir, I hope this could be considered. For a small amount of money, this could save a life or lives. It might not be practical to cover every part of the reservoir, but at least major crossings like this could and should be protected. Thanks for your consideration.

With little to no competition in the Fishers area for broadband highs peed internet (an essential duopoly exists between Comcast and ATT) there is no market motivation for the city and residents of Fishers to get faster, more reliable, or better internet connections.
With the rise of the internet and a quick connection to the service becoming more and more of a basic requirement it makes sense that Fishers would create a public utility to install and maintain a fiber optic internet service for residents and businesses alike.
It could start with the new downtown developments and expand out from there. Fishers would lay the main trunks and neighborhoods or individual residents could pay for the "last mile" connection to their homes. At that point the Fishers Fiber Connection would be another Internet Service Provider that would provide competition as well as incentive for technology firms to locate in the area.
Other cities nationwide have done this.

Pave over the existing railroad in Fishers to expand the Nickel Plate Rail Trail north to Noblesville and south to 38th Street. Nothing has been more consistent in spurring economic development than paved trails. The expanded Nickel Plate Rail Trail could be connected to the Monon at the fairgrounds, which would put Indianapolis on the map as a bicycle and pedestrian friendly city.
A paved trail could be used by Fishers residents for commuting and for recreation. It would enhance property values of those living nearby as opposed to a loud commuter train. It could be a central feature in making downtown Fishers a destination for dining, shopping and recreation.

Why is our rail crossing safety measures stuck in the early 1900's? I think the amount of gas/wear and tear our community blows through each day by stopping at the rail line all over town, that is used 2 weeks a year, is a shame and needs to end! Also believe we are far better off with the rail line being converted to a trail instead of light rail. Body Mass is a much bigger economic issue in this state than mass transit! Is there any area in the USA that has our geographic characteristics (no inherent growth boundary). Recreation is the major driver of density in central IN, of which a Nickle Plate trail will most certainly provide.

Organizations like the "World Adult Kickball Association" (www.kickball.com) have these leagues set up all over the country.... great way to meet new people, network, get some exercise & have a blast! Local bars/restaurants could sponsor teams & offer incentives for socializing after. We already have so many great parks that could house such events. Ages 21 up co-ed... everyone can play kickball... would be SO fun!!!

Maybe you could survey the Fishers residents to see what residents think we need there. Most of the area looks very nice but it would just feel complete if that patch of grass was filled in with a nice looking building. I am not sure who owns that land but I would love to see something done there.

The traffic light timing on 116th at Cumberland Road and the light at the entrance of Kroger recently changed. This change has made traffic on 116 heading east from I69 extremely heavy in the evening rush hour. We now have all the extra capacity from the dedicated exit lanes on I69 except the backup on 116 to Cumberland road has caused those lanes to back up for a half mile or more. Please consider revising the timing on the two traffic lights near Cumberland to alleviate the congestion on 116.

Along some areas of 116th the bike and walking path is directly adjacent to traffic lanes. I understand that this might be a necessity due to the ownership of the property (or the property still not being a part of Fishers), but it is a prime example of poor design.
When you have traffic traveling at 40-50+ MPH you need to provide an adequate setback for pedestrians and casual cyclists to feel safe. You can accomplish this with a large setback, installing a feature like trees or bollards between the pedestrian and traffic lanes, or providing space for parallel parking on the edge of the roadway.
Another safety spot is at all curb cuts, particularly into neighborhoods. By reducing the required radius of the curb cut the design would slow traffic slicing across the pedestrian trail while also decreasing the overall width of the intersection for pedestrians and bike riders.
116th has some great features, but let's make sure not to repeat the few mistakes in other locations.

The newly constructed on ramp is fine except you don't have enough time to merge without causing a safety hazard. The existing lanes coming from I 69 N. don't know traffic is merging ahead and they don't slow down. It's full of people slamming on breaks, and too short of a distance to give people entering the highway a chance to merge safely. It seems like there should have been plenty of room for the extra lane to allow influx of traffic before it comes to a sudden end. There should be signs alerting 69 N. traffickers to make room since they don't know to slow down when cars are entering the roadway at 30 or 40 mph. At minimum the lines should be repainted to give 50 or 100 more feet.

Even for someone who understands what a straight ballot is, no where did we understand that local elected officials would follow national party affiliation in the primary election. We lost our vote today due to this lack of information (by selecting a democratic ballot and not getting to vote for mayor who will run unopposed in November). Better information or a better process must be in place. http://www.fishers.in.us/Index.aspx?NID=281

The past few weekends I've been biking along 116th and 126th street. While it's great that we have the bike "trails" next to the road there are a laundry list of safety issues when using them. I propose we fix the current trails and do a much better job when building out new trails in the future.
1. Curb cuts are numerous and very dangerous. Cars entering and exiting neighborhoods and shopping areas do not look for bikes. Signage can help. Decreasing the turn radius on curb cuts can help as well (that provides a shorter road to cross as well as a forcing auto traffic to slow).
2. Signage obstructs views for both bikes and vehicles. Both neighborhood and business signage is to blame in obstructing views. Signs should be set back from the road, be limited in height, or be eliminated from the center median and neighborhood entrances.
3. Curb cuts should be minimized. Where possible shopping areas should share an entrance exit and not allow each outbuilding to have their own.
