FISHERS, Ind. (July 11) – The Town of Fishers is beginning the installation of vegetation swales on 126th Street between Promise Road and 10548 E. 126th Street. This stretch of road will undergo intermittent partial lane closures in the northern westbound lane and in the southern eastbound lane between July 12 and August 12, for activities associated with the 126th Street Enhanced Stormwater Management Project. The project involves the installation of engineered soils, plantings, and river rock within these swales.
The new vegetation swales will provide water quality and detention for the road runoff from 126th Street. The native plants and engineered soils that will be placed in the swales will remove sediment and automotive related pollutants from the runoff and will also help detain the stormwater by slowing the rate at which it drains into Sand Creek. In addition, these swales have been designed to be aesthetically pleasing with a well-manicured look that includes plants, mulch, river rock, and occasional ledgerock stone.
