96th Street and Cumberland Road Closes Monday for Roundabout Construction

 On Monday, March 21, Hamilton County will close the intersection of 96th Street and Cumberland Road for construction of a multilane roundabout to improve traffic flow and reduce traffic congestion. Local traffic will have access to the intersection. Concurrently, lane change and turn lane improvements will also be made at the intersection of 96th Street and Lantern Road.

The Hamilton County Highway Department and the Fishers Engineering Department are proactively working together to mitigate traffic congestion. Traffic from 96th Street and Cumberland Road will be detoured via Lantern Road and 106th Street and Cumberland Road.  A temporary signal will be installed at 106th Street and Mollenkopf Road within the next two weeks.  Additionally, the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department and the Fishers Police Department will assist with traffic control during peak hours. 

The roundabout construction is expected to take 100 days. The intersection is planned to reopen on approximately June 30, 2016. 

What you need to know:

    A temporary traffic signal will be installed at 106th & Mollenkopf within the next two weeks

    Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department and Fishers Police will be on site to direct traffic during peak hours

  • Hamilton County and Fishers traffic engineers will monitor traffic patterns closely and adjust signal timing accordingly
