As summer approaches, many residents have turned their eyes to beautification projects around their homes and in their neighborhoods. For the last 15 years, the City of Fishers has provided support for community beatification projects through the Neighborhood and Tree Matching grant programs.
The purpose of Neighborhood Matching grants is to give older neighborhoods within city limits an incentive to plan and complete a project that will either enhance its appearance or otherwise improve the community. In addition to beautification projects, neighborhoods can apply to receive matching grants to assist in accomplishing community goals such as establishing a neighborhood crime watch program.
The Tree Matching grant program awards funds to city neighborhoods, nonprofits and homeowners to plant trees in common neighborhood properties to enhance the beauty of our community.
This year, the following awards were given for neighborhood beautification projects:
Fall Creek Estates, $2,000 for replacement of existing stone retention wall surrounding entrance sign
Breakwater, $4,000 for landscape enhancements and one-time hardscape maintenance to subdivision’s front entrance
Middleton Place Condos, $5,000 for new signage, lighting for signs, landscaping and fencing
Bradford Ridge/Bradford Knoll, $2,000 for installation of an electrical aerating fountain in neighborhood pond
Limestone Springs, $3,500 for landscaping enhancement around the neighborhood’s monument signs
Eller Trails, $1,800 for the replacement of lighting fixtures
The Pines, $3,000 for entrance enhancement project including landscaping, lighting replacement and sign enhancement
The following awards were given for tree planting projects:

Cedar Cove II HOA, $3,606 for the planting of 14 trees
Country Fields HOA, $4,1000 for the planting of 14 trees

This year, the city awarded a total of $35,000 in neighborhood matching grants and a total of $20,000 in tree matching grants. Since its inception in 2000, the city has awarded more than $436,000 in matching grants. This initiative helps to ensure that we remain a vibrant community; maintaining older neighborhoods as well as newer areas.
