[ARCHIVED] Thats A Wrap: Another Record-Breaking Summer Concert Series at the AMP

The original item was published from September 2, 2016 12:29 PM to September 2, 2016 2:20 PM

Summer brought another record-breaking season at the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater. From June through August, patrons came out to enjoy concerts each Tuesday and Friday night with a few special Saturday night shows in between.

The Summer Concert Series is an event that continues to be elevated by the Parks and Recreation Department since it began in 2013, as evidenced by the continued increase in attendance each year.

This season, The Tuesday Night Concerts, sponsored by IU Health Saxony Hospital, had a total of 40,400 attendants at seven shows. That’s up 40 percent from last year’s series. The AMP After Dark series presented by Frost Brown Todd which takes place every Friday night, had a total of 17,900 attendants at ten shows. That’s up 10 percent from last year’s series.

In total, we hosted more than 58,000 patrons for the Tuesday and Friday night shows alone, not including attendance at the four special shows we hosted this summer.  Special thanks to series sponsors IU Health Saxony Hospital and Frost Brown Todd Attorneys, and Tuesday night show sponsors Cathedral High School, Primrose West of Fishers, Citizens State Bank, Boomerang Development, Kona Ice, Bose McKinney Law Offices and The Goddard School.

While the Summer Concert Series is officially over, you still have a few opportunities to join us for free live music and entertainment at the AMP.

Kick off Labor Day Weekend with Blues Fest this Friday and Saturday night featuring more than 10 blues musicians. The event will honor “Indiana’s Blues Man” Gene Deer. We’ve got another special show to get you pumped up and ready for Hamilton Southeastern Schools’ annual Mudsock game between Fishers High School and Hamilton Southeastern High School, Vardagen’s Mudsock Concert on Sept. 8.

Thanks for coming out to sing and dance along with us this season! Be sure to "like" the AMP Facebook page to stay in the know on special events throughout the year.
