New Year, New City

Posted on January 5, 2015 at 4:28 PM by Blog Admin

While the nation celebrates the beginning of the new year today, in Fishers we’re also celebrating our official status as a city of the second class. The residents of Fishers voted for this transition and for the last several months we’ve been diligently planning and preparing to ensure that we were ready to hit the ground running come Jan. 1, 2015.

And now, here we are.

Just last week our first clerk, mayor and city council were sworn into office. All expressed their eagerness to serve our community in this new year. Fishers’ leadership team has also expanded with the additions of a city controller and city attorney as mandated by state law for cities of the second class.

In 2015, we’re excited to provide new ways for residents to connect with the City and our leaders. This year, we’ll embark on quarterly Mayor’s Nights Out, where Mayor Fadness and City department heads will come to your neighborhood to address and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

While Mayor’s Nights Out will be our newest communication forum, we encourage you to remember all of the ways that you can connect with us; from our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram), to our Fishers Alert system, Code Red, and of course by phone and email. Through these various channels, we think we’ve got something for everyone and you’re able to be as connected with the City as you’d like.

We are committed to providing our residents with the highest level of service possible and look forward to furthering the vision of Fishers as a smart, vibrant, entrepreneurial city.

Cheers to 2015, our first year as the City of Fishers!
