Not long ago, the Fishers Parks & Recreation Department plotted a new course.
That course would take the department on a journey that is about building traditions and cultivating a sense of place – a sense of community. New ideas sprouted and grew into events we work on every year. This year, the department has the honor of helping the long standing tradition of the Fishers Farmers Market continue on.

The market season kicks off May 7 in front of the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater (6 Municipal Drive). The market runs from 8 a.m. to noon.
The market itself has been a constant, and it’s been a longstanding component of the downtown area. People come out in early hours of Saturday mornings to shop and get a sweet or savory treat.

And we’re looking for volunteers to help us keep the success, grown by the Fishers Chamber of Commerce turned OneZone, continuing. This season, we’re looking for volunteers to be Fishers Farmers Market Ambassadors.
We have an early shift, 7 to 8 a.m., to help with load in and answering questions from vendors, and we have shifts from 8 a.m. to noon for helping out as greeters and helping run the Parks & Recreation table.

We’re looking for volunteers over the age of 18 that are comfortable working with the public and want to help represent the City of Fishers and this great community.
Volunteers are more than welcome at any market morning throughout the season, but we can particularly use the help May 7, May 14, June 11, June 18, July 16, August 6 and September 24.
We can responsibly handle a total of six volunteers per week. If you or your group are interested in participating or would like more information, please reach me directly at domsicd@fishers.in.us or call 317-595-3151.
Now get outside and enjoy spring in Fishers.
