Join Fishers Health Department, Community Health Network, and Fishers Parks for a new Walk About Health monthly series with health specialists at parks across the city.

April 29 -  Healthy Diets to Optimize Development for Children with Autism & Special Needs 

Brooks School Park, 1 p.m.

A healthy diet is important for everyone. This is especially true for children with special needs. During Autism Awareness Month, join Dr. Mary Lou Hulseman and Rachel Baker from Community Health Network on Friday, April 29 at 1 p.m. at Brooks School Park to discuss healthy diets to optimize development in children with autism. They will provide an overview of recommended health services for 5-10 minutes, and then we will enjoy a walk around the park together, offering you the opportunity to get any additional of your questions answered. Bring your family or your friends along! Meet at the park at 1 p.m., the walk will depart at 1:15 p.m. Learn more.


May 11 -  Mental Health Awareness; "Recognizing the difference between "the blues" and clinical depression"

Periodically feeling sad, down, or “blue” can be part of the human experience.  It’s also important to know when you may need the assistance of a professional counselor or medication prescriber.  What signs or symptoms should you look for?  What type of assistance may you need?  And who can you call for help?  Join Kimble Richardson, licensed mental health counselor with Community Health Network, as you Walk about Health and enjoy the beauty within Ritchey Woods Nature Preserve located at 10410 Hague Road, Fishers, IN 46038.  


June 6 -  Pre-Exercise Warm-up and Sport Specific Strengthening

Billericay Park, 2:00 p.m.

Join us to discuss how incorporating an active lifestyle through sports improves our wellness. We will discuss pre- and post- game strategies to prevent common injuries, the importance of hydration, and the role diet and sleep have for our overall health. Pickleball will also be discussed highlighting exercises for ankle strengthening and mobility, core strengthening and general strengthening exercises

Hope for Happiness

Our mental health is one of the many important aspects of health that impacts our overall well-being. The Fishers Health Department, in partnership with the Parks Department and HSE School District, will be hosting a Hope for Happiness event at Fishers Farmers Market. Hope for Happiness is a day to promote individual and community mental wellness by working with mental health vendors that serve the residents of Fishers. Join us to learn ways to support one another, get materials and resources, engage in some fun activities, and get some swag.

Health & Wellness Day

Our emotions, purpose, spirituality, finances, goals, beliefs, habits, and actions all have an important impact on our overall health.  The Fishers Health Department, in partnership with Parks Department, will be hosting a Health & Wellness Day at Fishers Farmers Market. Health and Wellness Day is a day to promote individual and community wellness by incorporating the 8 dimensions of wellness. The focus is around connecting or re-connecting with our community during a time when connections have been difficult. Join us to learn ways to support one another, get materials and resources, engage in some fun activities, and get some swag.
