These responsibilities include economic development, development review, downtown redevelopment, long range planning, permitting, and inspections.

The City of Fishers is working to improve the way you do business! You can now manage and request city permits, inspections and make payments through a new online portal. You may also submit proposals and collaborate with city planners and other officials. It is our goal to improve the processes and efficiency of our city. This innovative portal is the next step in collaborative government. We look forward to working with our citizens, contractors, and development partners in new and exciting ways. Economic Development
Our economic development team works to maintain a strong business atmosphere within a community that boasts an exemplary quality of life, which has been recognized by Money magazine, Forbes, and Business week over the last 10 years. Please visit Fishers Advantage to learn more.

Current Planning & Plan Review
Current planning and plan review encompasses the administration of Fishers’ codes, ordinances, and development standards for new development and redevelopment. Please visit the Current Planning & Plan Review page to learn more about current planning, applications, and plan review.

Downtown Planning
Fishers created the 2030 Downtown Plan to identify a vision for reinvestment and redevelopment in the downtown area, known as the Nickel Plate District. The Downtown Plan led to the creation of a conceptual Master Plan for the District that illustrated the vision of the plan. To implement and regulate this plan, a new code, the Nickel Plate District Code needed to be implemented.

Long Range Planning
The Department of Community Development continues to plan for the community’s growth. These long range transportation planning efforts ensure that appropriate investments continue to be made in Fishers’ roads, trails, paths, and other infrastructure. The efforts also enhance the community identify and sense of place through the parks, wayfinding efforts, as well as community art
