Recreation and Events Manager

Salary Range: $22.13 - $26.56 Hourly, $40,279.00 - $48,335.00 Annually

Position Description:

Parks and Recreation is a big part of what makes our community great and we are seeking a committed and experienced recreation professional to help keep the momentum going forward. The ideal candidate for the Recreation and Events Manager is an effective leader with advanced knowledge of recreation programming, event planning/operations and budgeting. He/She must be able to demonstrate creative problem solving skills combined with excellent customer service. The position is responsible for leading a team of talented and dedicated staff that create, facilitate and coordinate programs for all ages, including summer camp and other special events.

Examples of Duties

  • Oversee all aspects of the Recreation Division of Parks and Recreation Department, which includes: budget creation; managing staff; developing and overseeing summer camps; directing program coordination; developing and implementing a recreation plan. 
  • Daily collaboration with other divisions in the Department and with other City departments such as Public Works, Communications/Marketing, and Planning.
  • Maintain managerial and processing skills in RecTrac and WebTrac software.
  • Cultivate and maintain professional relationships with program and contract partners.
  • Facilitates programs, classes, and special events for the community.
  • Maintains a positive relationship with the public at meetings and responds to inquiries and/or issues.
  • Develops, coordinates, and implements training opportunities for Recreation staff.
  • Act on behalf of Director in his/her absence.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation, or related field and considerable experience (5 or more years) in program development, supervision, or recreation management; CPRP Certification preferred; Valid driver's license; First Aid Certification, or ability to obtain upon hire; Working knowledge of RecTrac and WebTrac software preferred; Ability to work outside of normal business hours including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
