Facilities Maintenance Technician II

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: $18.56 - $22.27 Hourly

Location: Wastewater Treatment Plant, Fishers, Indiana

The Public Works Department Water Quality Division Facility Maintenance Tech II Position is an integral part of the team that operates and maintains the City's wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities. The goal of the Facility Maintenance team is to provide reliable, skilled service in the maintenance and repair of 22 lift stations and the Cheeney Creek Wastewater Treatment Facility.

Examples of Duties

  • Installs, maintains, and repairs equipment such as pumps, motors, compressors, conveyors, variable frequency drives, programmable logic controllers, and communication wiring and termination.
  • Maintains wastewater conveyance and treatment system mechanical, electrical and instrumentation & control systems utilizing gauges, meters and other test instruments to diagnose malfunctions, disassemble, repair, and reassemble system components as required.
  • Installs, services and repairs electric motors, instrumentation, air compressors, controllers and other related facility equipment.
  • Fabricates components and assembles various pumps, valves, heaters, compressors, and other mechanical systems.
  • Safely operates electrical and air powered tools, pipe fitting, welding, hydraulic, pneumatic, and other mechanical tools and equipment.
  • Installs new/replacement equipment and materials in facilities by performing electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, control and other maintenance work.
  • Trouble shoots, diagnoses and repairs malfunctions in electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, instrumentation and control systems.
  • Preforms preventative and corrective maintenance and routine servicing of equipment as assigned.
  • Performs other facilities maintenance duties and tasks as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent; 5 years electro-mechanical experience; 2 – 3 years team lead level experience preferred; Completion of recognized program in vocational training for the relevant trade preferred; Strong analytical abilities for understanding and interpreting facility system documents, prints, layouts; In-depth knowledge of electric, electrical and mechanical systems and digital pneumatic controls; Ability to operate specialized machinery, equipment and tools utilized in the repair, installation and maintenance of pumps, compressors, conveyors, controls, variable frequency drives and programmable logic controllers; Able to handle fast-paced environment and meet time sensitive deadlines; Strong work ethic and the ability to be a team player, work independently, and to be a self-starter.
