Fishers Metropolitan Airport Redevelopment
On Oct. 16, 2015, the Indianapolis Airport Authority (IAA) and the City of Fishers announced the approval of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the development of the undeveloped land at the Fishers Metropolitan Airport.

In July 2016, the IAA and City of Fishers amended the MOU to include a new concept plan for 211 acres of under-utilized land. The concept plan lays out three approved land use types, including:

  • Flex employment center/Research & Development: A mix of employment uses that includes office, clean manufacturing, research and development and components of light or flex-industrial uses.
  • Employment node: Establish areas for large office buildings providing regional employment with opportunity to integrate employment-serving mixed-use.
  • Parks and open space: Lands that serve a recreational, public open space or ecological function.

The IAA and City will actively pursue opportunities for lease or sale of the land to prospective companies interested in locating in Fishers. The City intends to negotiate those opportunities as it would with any future economic development proposals; the IAA would then contract with the company for sale or lease of the land.
