Events Manager
Position Type: Full-Time

Salary Range: $21.49 - $25.78 Hourly / $39,106.0 - $46,927.00 Annually 

Location: Fishers Parks & Recreation Building, Fishers, Indiana

Position Description:

Working in the Parks & Recreation Department, this position is responsible for all aspects of planning, coordination, and execution of community events organized by the City of Fishers. Events range from concerts to festivals, competitions, fundraisers and more. Position will work closely with both internal (city departments, public safety, volunteers, etc.) and external (vendors, sponsors, performers, etc.) stakeholders. Position will supervise one to two part-time staff as well as manage multiple volunteers during events. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required. The position is expected to split work time between the office environment performing related administrative duties and in the field serving as the primary point of contact during events. Working during some nights and weekends is required.

Examples of Duties

  • Recommend, develop, and implement short/long term goals and objectives for community events.
  • Create and seek partnership opportunities with local organizations/vendors.
  • Manage contracts as they relate to community events/programs.
  • Research, book and evaluate entertainment options.
  • Create event site layout and mapping.                        
  • Coordinate needed services from other departments or outside contractors/agencies such as public safety and public works.
  • Set up and attend events; coordinate and monitor activities and resolve problems.
  • Contribute to the post-event evaluation and follows up on the financial assessment.
  • Supervises and coordinates special events volunteers and vendors.
  • Prepare correspondence and reports pertaining to community events.
  • Use various computer applications in establishing and maintaining records and files.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university; Two (2) years of experience dealing with events coordination and planning; Valid driver's license; Knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures used to coordinate events; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, management, co-workers, and the public; Ability to deal effectively with fast paced and sometimes stressful situations; Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and responsibilities.
