Future Land Use Planning
Comprehensive Plan
The comprehensive plan is the mechanism that solidifies a community’s vision and provides specific guidance for how to implement this vision. The plan reviews the City’s land use, roads, parks, trails, and other infrastructure to guide development and redevelopment throughout the community. In 2015, under Mayor Fadness’ direction, Fishers will create a new comprehensive plan that allows Fishers to continue its work as a great place to live while ensuring fiscal responsibility and appropriate use of the land within the City’s jurisdiction.  Visit to learn more about the comprehensive plan for our community.

Future Land Use Plan
The Future Land Use Plan provides an overview of the various zoning categories and existing overlays within the City of Fishers. The plan was updated in 2008 and is the basis for land use decisions in the City.

Summary of Population Projections

In 2014, the City’s population projections were updated. The Demand Forecast and Fiscal Sustainability Study found that Fishers is in the midst of a rapid growth period which will continue for approximately 10 years through to 2025. By the year 2040, the population of Fishers is expected to grow to 131,500 from its 2014 population of roughly 85,000.
