The Fishers Fire Department works hard to protect the citizens and visitors of Fishers from all hazards created by both man and nature. The department has excelled in all areas of service that it provides. Much preparation and behind the scenes support is needed to make the department a success. That's where you come in. The Fishers Fire Department is in need of motivated, community-minded volunteers that will support firefighters in a variety of ways to improve the overall effectiveness of the organization.
What is the Fire Corps?
A Fire Corps member of the fire department provides support to the firefighters of the department and the communities it serves by performing services at emergency incidents, department facilities and department functions. These services include activities such as providing incident rehabilitation to firefighters, support to the community during and after an incident, and supporting the department during its non-emergency activities.
What are the requirements?
Be at least 18 years of age
Graduated High School or GED
Be able to pass a criminal background check
Does the department have volunteer firefighting opportunities?
No, the Fishers Fire Department made the transition to a fully paid fire department in 2002. The current requirements to maintain proficiency in the fire service require a time commitment that is not compatible with today's busy schedules. However, a Fire Corps Member is an important part of the Fishers Fire Department and assists in carrying out its mission.
