Special Census Update (June 2, 2004)
Detailed Special Census results received by Fishers officials reveal that, as the town's population continues to grow, its community becomes increasingly diverse compared to 2000.

Special Census Update (March 4, 2004)
Town of Fishers officials received the results of its special census, and, as of November 7, 2003 according to the U.S. Census Bureau, the Town's population as 52,390, up from 37,835 in 2000.
Town of Fishers officials estimate that the Town is entitled to more than $4 million (more than $600,000 per year) from the State until the next decennial census in 2010.
Special Census Update (January 9, 2004)
The Town's special census has officially concluded. It began on November 7, 2003 and ended January 5, 2004. The Town should have final population figures in the spring of 2004.
On behalf of the Fishers Town Council, a heartfelt thanks to the community for participating in the special census by being counted, and to the roughly 165 census workers who helped the Town conduct its special census. Without the help and dedication of so many individuals, the success of Fishers' special census would not have been as great.

The Town needed approximately 450 applicants to fill several temporary special census positions (for more information about special census positions, click here), and the application deadline was October 8, 2003.
Enumerators (field census workers) went door-to-door to conduct personal interviews in an effort to collect information about each Fishers household. The information that was collected covers seven basic areas: name, age, gender, race and Hispanic origin (if applicable) of everyone in the household, the relationship between household members, and whether the household is owned or rented.Additional information about the census:
