New officers assigned to the Uniform Services Division will have future opportunities to specialize in a particular area. It depends on your experience, education and training. Uniform Services Division (USD)
The USD is the largest division of the police department. Officers assigned to USD enjoy a rotating schedule with every other weekend off. The officers work 12 hour days on two assigned shifts - Day Shift and Night Shift. These officers are responsible for patrolling over 300 miles of roads and protecting the more than 68,000 people that live in Fishers as well as all those that visit the Town.
Criminal Investigations Division (CID)
When positions are available, officers from the Uniform Services Division are eligible to participate in a competitive process for an assignment to the CID. All investigators are highly trained in multiple areas of criminal investigation.
Officers are eligible to participate in the Bike Patrol Unit after the completion of their probationary year. Bike Patrol offers the ability to patrol neighborhoods and meet with the citizens of Fishers. Officers are also assigned to tactical shifts to assist in crime detection and enforcement. The Bike Patrol Unit is an extra duty assignment that is paid in addition to regular duties.

K-9 Progam
The Fishers Police Department currently has three K-9 Units that are permanently assigned to a handler. Our K-9 units are crossed trained in narcotics detection, tracking, building searches and suspect apprehension.

Emergency Response Team
The Fishers Police Department has a 16 member team trained to assist with critical incidents. The team is made up of officers from every division in the department and two members of the Fishers Fire Department that serve as medics.

SCUBA Dive Team
The Fishers Police Department has a 13 member dive team made up of divers and dive tenders. The team is supervised and trained by Master Divers from a local training company in Fishers. Divers receive specialized training to recover evidence or other property and are also available for call out to assist the Fishers Fire Department with water rescues.
