The state of Indiana now requires all individuals to apply for their handgun permits online. The following will help you when filling out the application:
· The website you will need to go to is: www.in.gov/isp
· On the left hand tool bar you will click on "Firearms Licensing"
· Under that drop down you will then click on "Handgun License Application"
· Once the application opens you will need to select "Hamilton" for the county that you reside in.
· Fill out the entire application with your information
· Click on "Submit"
· This will pull up a box that you will need to check mark that you are providing true and accurate information to the best of your knowledge.
· Click on "Continue"
· This will then bring you to the next screen which you will NEED to print off for your confirmation number.
· Under the red lettering paragraph you will see #1 Follow the link on the page to the L-1 scheduling. Click Here... make sure to click on this icon
· Click on either English or Spanish
· Make sure this is your name and click on yes or no
· On this screen you will put in a zip code that is closest to where you want to get your fingerprints done. Then click on "go"
· This is where you will choose what location and time you would like to have your fingerprints done. Once you click on a time you will then need to click on "go"
· This next screen is where you will verify your information and the only thing you have to fill in is the * icon boxes. Then click on "Send Information"
· Make sure to check the information is correct on the next screen and click on "go" in the yellow bar.
· This next screen is where you will choose what type of payment method you would like. You will choose either Money Order (pay onsite) or Visa/Mastercard (pay now). If you choose Money Order (pay onsite) then click on "Send Payment Information" and you will be done with the online application. You will need to take the money order payable to the State of Indiana with you to the L-1 location when you get your fingerprints done. If you choose Visa/Mastercard (pay now) then click on "Send Payment Information". The next screen you will need to click on "Continue to US Bank E-Pay" in the yellow bar. You now have options but I always choose the "Pay Without Registering" tab%u2026 click on the one you prefer. From here make sure to follow the directions.
· A four (4) year license is $50.95 ($10.00 case or check payable to the Fishers Police Department for the local fee and $40.95 payable to the State of Indiana)
· A lifetime license is $135.95 ($50.00 cash or check payable to the Fishers Police Department for the local fee and $85.95 payable to the State of Indiana)
· If you are RENEWING your handgun license and it has not yet expired there is a price difference for the lifetime application. It will be $40.00 cash or check to the Fishers Police Department and $70.95 to the State of Indiana.
