Nekoda Witsken and muralThe Fishers Community Art Master Plan has been selected by American Planning Association Indiana Chapter as the 2014 Outstanding Plan of the Year. The award honors excellence in plans that have advanced the practice of planning.

A First In Hamilton County
No other community in Hamilton County has approved a document articulating a long term vision for public art. Fishers’ recognizes art as a defining feature within the community as it grows, matures and prospers. It recognizes art’s ability to define and differentiate Fishers by:
  • Creating iconic places.
  • Helping to attract and maintain a talented work force.
  • Creating a strong sense of place.
  • Preserving and sharing culture.
  • Offering an exchange of ideas and values.

A Plan Enriched by Collaboration
Fishers’ thanks the many hours donated by two key organizations dedicated to this project.
  • The Fishers Arts Council and the Fishers Cultural Tourism Group both made significant contributions of their time and talent to support the development of this plan.
  • By combining input from the creative side of the art world, from those working in arts related businesses and those with experience in municipal policy, the plan is a resilient document with credibility.

Star Spangled SummerNewest Art Installation
On June 21, 2017, the City of Fishers unveiled the newest public art installation at The Edge parking garage. The artwork, titled Star Spangled Summer, was created by local artist, Kyle Ragsdale. Visible from I-69, the artwork welcomes residents and visitors traveling westbound on 116th Street into the Nickel Plate District of downtown Fishers.
