Posted to Fishers, Indiana on May 8, 2015 at 3:34 PM by Blog Admin

May 3-9 is Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW), and the City of Fishers Human Resources department didn’t let this week go by without letting Fishers’ employees know they’re appreciated.

This year, Fishers’ PSRW week kicked off with a free drive-through breakfast of bagels, fruit and orange juice. Employees were also encouraged to enjoy casual dress throughout the week.

New Year, New City

Posted to Fishers, Indiana on January 5, 2015 at 4:28 PM by Blog Admin

While the nation celebrates the beginning of the new year today, in Fishers we’re also celebrating our official status as a city of the second class. The residents of Fishers voted for this transition and for the last several months we’ve been diligently planning and preparing to ensure that we were ready to hit the ground running come Jan. 1, 2015.

And now, here we are.

Just last week our first clerk, mayor and city council were sworn into office. All expressed their eagerness to serve our community in this new year. Fishers’ leadership team has also expanded with the additions of a city controller and city attorney as mandated by state law for cities of the second class.

In 2015, we’re excited to provide new ways for residents to connect with the City and our leaders. This year, we’ll embark on quarterly Mayor’s Nights Out, where Mayor Fadness and City department heads will come to your neighborhood to address and answer any questions or concerns you may have.

While Mayor’s Nights Out will be our newest communication forum, we encourage you to remember all of the ways that you can connect with us; from our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram), to our Fishers Alert system, Code Red, and of course by phone and email. Through these various channels, we think we’ve got something for everyone and you’re able to be as connected with the City as you’d like.

We are committed to providing our residents with the highest level of service possible and look forward to furthering the vision of Fishers as a smart, vibrant, entrepreneurial city.

Cheers to 2015, our first year as the City of Fishers!

Fishers First Mayor and City Council Sworn Into Office

Posted to Fishers, Indiana on December 23, 2014 at 4:20 PM by Blog Admin

Last night more than 300 Fishers residents, elected officials and community leaders gathered at Launch Fishers in the Nickel Plate District to witness history as Fishers’ first mayor, Scott Fadness, clerk and City Council were sworn into office.

The historic event was among the last of the necessary happenings prior to our official transition to the City of Fishers on Jan. 1.

The program began with an introduction from Launch Fishers founder John Wechsler, who spoke of the thriving entrepreneurial scene in Fishers, due in large part to Mayor-elect Fadness’ partnership and support of Launch Fishers and the entrepreneurial activity therein and throughout the community.

Indiana Speaker of the House Brian Bosma attended the ceremony and offered special remarks and congratulations. Bosma noted that for 25 years he’s lived ‘just a stone’s throw south’ of the borderline of Fishers and has watched it grow from a sleepy farm area to the burgeoning community that it is today.

“To be in a place called Launch Fishers when we’re about to launch Fishers is a day I think will be long remembered, said Bosma. “ Leadership is all about vision and executing that vision, and that’s precisely what’s happening here, he continued.  “I don’t know who the founders were [of Fishers], but I’m quite confident they had no idea that Fishers would be the place of growth, opportunity and vision that it is today.”

Following the swearing in of the elected clerk, city councilors and our first mayor by City Judge Dan Henke, Mayor-elect Fadness reinforced that vision, which is already taking shape.

“Tonight, I am unabashedly optimistic about our future and I look to Jan. 1 to start a new chapter in our community, said Fadness. “I think the ultimate goal we all can share is a smart, vibrant, entrepreneurial city.”
